Chargeback vs SEPA R-transaction

Both are scheme-defined ways to unwind or stop a payment on their respective rails, but not all of them reverse a completed payment. A card chargeback is a dispute the cardholder’s bank raises through the network to pull back money after it has settled; a SEPA R-transaction is an exception on a credit transfer or direct debit that may stop the payment before settlement (a reject) or claw it back after (a return or recall).
